Inter Milan relied on their big names Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella against AC Milan.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They also argue that defender Yann Bisseck provided an “electric shock” off the bench.
The derby is always a tough match to navigate for both Inter and Milan.
Clashes between the two city rivals have earned a reputation for being very unpredictable and chaotic.
And that proved to be the case yet again in the derby yesterday.
As with previous derbies this season, Milan played a very physical and organized game. They looked to disrupt Inter in possession and quickly hit them on the break.
Inter needed to turn to some of their biggest names to find some stability and balance in such a tough atmosphere.
One was Lautaro Martinez. The Nerazzurri captain had a key role to play in possession, as he often dropped back to provide a passing option and calm things down.

Martinez was not able to get on the scoresheet. He had two goals disallowed.
But nevertheless, it was an important performance from the Argentine.
The same, the Gazzetta argue, was true of Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The former Cagliari midfielder showed his ability to protect the ball in midfield. And he always seemed to make the right decisions to either slow the match down or start an attack.
Meanwhile, the Gazzetta praise defender Yann Bisseck for giving Inter an “electric shock” after coming on as a substitute.
