Defender Francesco Acerbi will make his long-awaited return to the Inter Milan starting eleven against Fiorentina tomorrow.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 36-year-old is finally ready to return from injury.

Inter defender Francesco Acerbi has been on the sidelines for the better part of three months with an injury.

The Italian international suffered a thigh strain during a Serie A clash with Hellas Verona in November. And he has not made a single appearance since.

Acerbi’s recovery process has dragged on significantly longer than had initially been expected.

Francesco Acerbi has been slowly working his way back to fitness in training over the past few weeks.

Since the start of January, it has not exactly been clear when the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender would be able to return. But it would be sooner or later.

Now, finally, Acerbi has found the kind of fitness necessary to make his return.

Therefore, reports Sky, the Italian international will start for Inter tomorrow.

The Nerazzurri take on Fiorentina in Serie A. They met La Viola just a few days ago, losing 3-0 – therefore, this match is all but must-win.

And according to Sky, Acerbi will replace Stefan de Vrij in the starting eleven.
