'It's down to me' - Ange Postecoglou admits blame over Tottenham's disappointing loss to Ipswich | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou believes he is at fault for his side's disappointing 2-1 loss to newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

The north London side recorded their fifth Premier League defeat on Sunday afternoon, failing to impress in a fixture that they'd have hoped to take all three points from. A late effort from Rodrigo Bentancur did nothing but deny Arijanet Muric a clean sheet as two first half goals from Liam Delap and Sammie Szmodics proved enough to secure Ipswich a win.

Postecoglou, however, has placed the blame for his side's poor performance on his own shoulders.

"It's just down to me," he told BBC Sport after Sunday's loss. "I'm not getting consistent performances from the players. It's something I need to address. I'm the person in charge so that's usually the way it goes. I take responsibility.

"We can't give ourselves those kind of mountains to climb."

The Spurs boss also analysed his side's performance on Tottenham's Review Show, continuing: "It was hugely disappointing and, from my perspective, unacceptable, because we started the game nowhere near the levels we needed to be and gave ourselves a mountain to climb.

"In the second half, we had the ascendancy and enough opportunities to get the job done, but we didn’t do enough with it.

"We were far too passive without the ball, allowed them to feel comfortable, and that’s what we don’t want to do when we’re at home, especially, and we paid a price for that."

Tottenham return to action after the international break on 23 November against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
