A BBC pundit has highlighted one thing that a Chelsea player did in his part in one of Fulham’s goals against The Blues yesterday.

In fact, it is actually something that he didn’t do in the lead up to the goal that he has dug out, and rightly so really.

Chelsea lost 2-1 against Fulham at Stamford Bridge yesterday in the Boxing Day Premier League fixture in what was their second poor performance in a row after drawing with Everton at the weekend.

It was all too lacklustre and too casual for Chelsea after they took the lead through a Cole Palmer goal and then just lost control of the game, as the attacking midfielder also admitted after the game.

They basically allowed Fulham to stroll through and score two goals in quick succession to then go on and grab all three points from their neighbours in their own backyard in what was a huge win for them.

Chelsea have never been in a title race in my opinion, we are not there yet. But one thing that can never be excused no matter whether we are in a title race or not, is a lack of desire, a lack of energy, and failing to put in a sprint when it is needed.

Colwill needed to sprint

Chelsea appeared to be heading towards another draw, but they were undone right at the death by a well-worked Fulham counter-attack. The visitors charged forward on the break and substitute Rodrigo Muniz was there to convert the winner.

Sasa Lukic was able to ghost past Colwill and into space to set up the goal, which drew criticism from Troy Deeney. The pundit, speaking on BBC Final Score during the game [quotes via Football London], slammed the defender for the lack of desire to sprint back.

”It’s so poor from Chelsea defensively,” Deeney said. “Levi Colwill doesn’t even break into sprint and has no desire to get back.

“It is well played from Fulham. They’ve planned for this and he’s got the goal.”
