Brendan Rodgers watched his team seal Four-in-a-row in front of our supporters at Tannadice today and then declared he’s happier than he’s ever been at Celtic Park. Indeed his 150% certain has increased to 200% after today’s emphatic win to wrap up the title…

The Bhoys have been back to their best in recent weeks after a small lull in the previous few games, which Rodgers rectified by making subtle changes and reminding the players what’s required at this football club.

Credit to the players though as they’ve undoubtedly responded to the manager’s dressing down and in quite superb fashion, it has to be said. The marking of Celtic’s fourth title in a row and Brendan’s second since he took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer of 2023, was a 5-0 demolition job on Dundee United away from home for another title-clincher on that turf.

After the match, Brendan Rodgers was asked about what the future holds for him and the boss replied that he was in his element right now and planning for next season.

Speaking to the Sky Sports panel, he said: “I will be here next year, 150%, 200%. No one knows me bar very few and there’s even less that understand me. I’ve never been happier here I’ve had the most amazing season here. Can we now finish strong, regroup in the summer and be even better.

“I think obviously leading into this game there was a little bit of negativity around the league and no competition, but we can only concentrate on ourselves.

“These players here have been unbelievable in their mentality every day and took that into the games. When they had to step up, they stepped up like today. So it’s been an absolutely brilliant season for us in the league. It’s been relentless on four fronts.”

The manager and his players will now have the unenviable challenge of trying to improve on this year both domestically and in Europe, as recognition for their efforts this campaign have been contially undemined and discredited.

It’s to the shame of the mainstream sports media in Scotland that what our club has achieved over the years hasn’t been heralded more than it has. Rodgers aim for next term now will be to make more strong additions to the title-winning squad.

Before all that can begin though, we still have several league encounters to take care of, starting with theRangers at Ibrox next weekend, in what is sure to be a tasty encounter even though the Scottish Premiership is already won. Celtic haven’t got the better of the Govan outfit for two matches on the bounce now and have to nip that one in the bud before next season starts.

Meanwhile, Barry Ferguson and his men will be playing for pride and want to stick it to Rodgers and Celtic anyway they can after their own very dismal campaign. Following that, we have the small matter of a Scottish Cup Final and the completion of a domestic Treble to take care of.

It’s hard work this year…
