Barcelona may have received a major boost ahead of their crucial La Liga clash against Osasuna, as young defensive sensation Pau Cubarsi was spotted training with the first team, reports SPORT.

It must be noted that the 18-year-old centre-back, who had been dealing with ankle discomfort, took part in today’s session, raising hopes of his availability for Thursday’s game at Montjuic.

Hansi Flick’s side held their final training session before the match, gradually reintegrating players returning from international duty.

Throughout the week, the Barcelona manager has been managing a fragmented squad, with several key figures returning at different intervals.

The last players to rejoin the group are Ronald Araujo and Raphinha, both of whom were involved in South American qualifiers.

Araujo did not feature for Uruguay against Bolivia, while Raphinha played the full 90 minutes in Brazil’s defeat to Argentina. Despite missing full training under Flick this week, both are expected to be in contention for the squad list.

What about Cubarsi?

However, the biggest surprise of today’s session was the presence of Cubarsi. The teenage defender had withdrawn from international duty with Spain due to an ankle issue, casting doubt over his availability for this fixture.

But his participation in full training is an encouraging sign, and there is growing optimism that he could make the squad.

Flick is yet to confirm whether the youngster will be available, but all indications suggest that his recovery is progressing well. His presence would be a significant boost, considering his rapid rise and growing importance in Barcelona’s defence.

Both had returned from their national team commitments earlier this week and appear to be fully fit.

With final decisions pending, Flick is expected to provide more clarity on squad selection during his pre-match press conference. Until then, Barça fans will remain hopeful that Cubarsi can feature in this pivotal encounter.
