Fresh off her goal for the Aston Villa Women, Kirsty Hanson took a moment with the AVWFC media team to analyze her goal. At the time, down 1-0 to the Liverpool Ladies, this provided the spark that ended up resulting in a 2-1 win for Natalia Arroyo's side.
Watching along on the tablet, even the forward was surprised by the angle that she scored from. Speaking as a team player, though, she wanted to give credit to the pass. Missy Bo Kearns, to her credit, did supply an incredible ball, and the Scottish international did the rest in an individual piece of brilliance.
In her position, coming on as a substitute, Hanson didn't have the luxury of getting into the rhythm within the match. Going along and doing her part after Aroyo's decision, the goal scorer spoke on this issue:
"I want to play obviously. I want to come on and make a difference."
And that she did. Only moments after entering the fray, she made an immediate impact. With approximately three weeks until Villa play Tottenham, she will hope to be able to reproduce her scoring efforts once WSL play resumes.
Hanson gave another interesting insight. Speaking more broadly, the player mentioned how the side had managed to grab the three points. While the gap between them and dropping down is now increased, their struggles are well documented at this point.
Her comments, however, suggest that those on the roster know that they have played well enough at times to get something from matches. In many instances, that final touch or bit of luck has been the only element missing. Building up with possession and working off the ball have been aspects present within AVWFC, despite their place in the table.
With the latest win, Arroyo's side can feel confident that results can come more frequently and that the Aston Villa Women can start imposing their will against many of the teams to close out the season.
