Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has left Naples and flown to France, where he’ll take the medicals with PSG on Friday. He departs the Azzurri after two and a half years, where he has tallied 30 goals and 29 assists in 107, contributing to the team’s fourth Scudetto two seasons ago. The Partenopei will cash in €70M plus add-ons. He’ll ink a deal until 2029 and make €9M yearly, Il Mattino reports.
The striker bid farewell with a video on Instagram.
“Thank you, Napoli. It’s truly difficult for me, but it’s time to say goodbye. I felt great here. We shared beautiful moments and thrilling experiences. This has been my home. I still remember my first goal and other sensations I will never forget.” “Naples lives of football, and I’m happy to be part of its history. I’ve learned a lot here, on and off the pitch. I’ve grown as a man and as a player and I’m proud of what I achieved with this club. I thank everybody I worked with during these years. My hope is to meet again. I know you are heartbroken now, but I’ll tell you everything one day. I wish you all the best.”
It’s a pity for the Partenopei and Serie A to lose another superstar in his prime. Rewarding players with quick renewals and pay bumps shortly after they joined isn’t always a great piece of business, but it should happen when somebody shines so brightly, and it would have delayed his exit. The fee is solid, but they better hope David Neres keeps it up and they find a replacement, or it’ll be a lethal blow to their title hopes.
