In his three-and-a-half years as a Celtic player, Kyogo Furuhashi managed to score 85 goals. These came in cup finals, Glasgow Derbies and in Champions League games. The Japanese forward was an absolute superstar for the Hoops and many hailed him as the best they had seen since a certain Henrik Larsson.
Naturally, when Kyogo left in the winter to join Rennes, it was seen as a major blow for Celtic. It remains to be seen how they will fill that void in the summer, as no replacement was signed in the previous transfer window.
On the other hand, Kyogo has quickly found out that the grass is not greener on the other side. In fact, it looks like his Rennes career is effectively over already.
As reported by Foot Sur 7, Kyogo isn't going to last long at Stade Rennais and is on his way out. He will have to leave at the end of this season to relaunch his career elsewhere. The report states that according to Jeunes Footeux, SRFC scouts are targeting French international Florian Thauvin.
So, if the speculation is accurate then Kyogo could be on his way out of Rennes in the summer. Not many would have expected that.
Rennes actually did shell out a decent amount of transfer fee in order to sign Kyogo from Celtic. But it is pretty clear that things have not worked out for him at the French club and it might be time for a change of scenery already.
Of course, there are many who would think about a potential return to Celtic Park for Kyogo in the summer transfer window. But at 30 years of age, that might no longer be on the cards for the Japanese forward at this point.
