FC Barcelona will be facing UD Las Palmas in their next La Liga game, which is scheduled to take place tonight in the Canary Islands. The Blaugranes team has already travelled for this game.
The Catalans will have to make sure that they do not take missteps in this game, as they are tied on points with Real Madrid on the La Liga table, and only one point ahead of Atletico Madrid.
But this will be a special player for one Barcelona player in particular, i.e., Pedri, who joined the Blaugrana side from the Canarian team.
As SPORT has reported, the President of Las Palmas, Miguel Angel Ramirez, appeared in an interview, and revealed the total amount that the Catalans have paid for him up to now.
Ramirez was quite satisfied with how this move panned out for his side:
“I think we are talking about an amount between 23 and 24 million euros, in that range… We reached a good agreement with a kid who had never played professional football. FC Barcelona took a gamble.”
The fixed fee that Barcelona paid for Pedri was only €5 million, and the rest of the amount highlighted by the Las Palmas President has been paid in variables as the midfielder has established himself as one of the best players in his position.
In the same interview, Ramirez also revealed that his side has a percentage of rights for fee obtained from any future sale of the midfielder, although he did not exactly mention the percentage his club owns.
Thus, if Pedri undertook a move in the coming few years, the Canarians will receive a significant chunk of money. However, the possibility of such a move remains quite low, as the Spanish international is a key part of the future Barcelona project, and has only recent renewed his contract.
