Lazio star Mattia Zaccagni talked about his great rapport with the fanbase which often drives him to celebrate his goals under the Curva Nord.
Since his arrival at the club in 2021, the Italian swiftly established himself as a fan favorite among the Biancocelesti supporters, especially following his Derby della Capitale exploits. Like many of his teammates, the 29-year-old tends to run towards the Stadio Olimpico’s Curva Nord when scoring a goal to share the moment with the club’s Ultras.
In his interview with The Laziali Founder & TLN TV Serie A Host Steven Moore, Zaccagni revealed it is simply an instinctive action, as he enjoys the warmth of the loyal fanbase.
When I score goals, especially at the Stadio Olimpico and on the side of the Curva Nord, I instinctively feel like going under the Curva and celebrate with the fans because they give you something that is difficult to fully take in, even during your everyday life. So it’s nice to receive this warmth, this affection from our fans. Even when we’re playing away from home, I try to head towards our supporters’ segment section every time, as it’s very nice to hear their support up close.
The Lazio captain also revealed discussed his usual ‘hands behind the ears’ celebration, as well as the occasional ‘Archer’ gesture.
The celebration with my hands to my ears comes naturally to me. As for the archer, it is the celebration that was born when I first arrived at Lazio so I like it so I carry it on.
