Lazio have reportedly set their sights on new Udinese signing Oumar Solet as they might need a new defender for next season.

The Background

The 25-year-old spent his early years at the academies of Stade Laval and Olympique Lyonnais before joining RB Salzburg in 2020 where he had a name for himself on the European stage. The Frenchman was released by the Austrian champions last September which allowed him to join Udinese on a free transfer.

After training with his teammates for several weeks, the Zebrette were finally able to register the defender in January. Since then, he hasn’t missed a beat, making 10 appearances and contributing with an assist, while only missing one fixture due to suspension.

Lazio Keeping Tabs on Oumar Soulet

So after earning plaudits for his early displays in Serie A, Solet has caught the eye of the Biancocelesti directors, claims La Lazio Siamo Noi. At the moment, the French defender only represents a mere idea for the Italian capital side, but it could develop into a concrete option, especially if they end up parting ways with one of their current centre-backs.

Mario Gila is a Wanted Man

The source mentions two defenders who could leave Lazio in the summer. The first is Mario Gila who has several suitors, including Inter Milan, Juventus, Premier League clubs, and most importantly, his former club Real Madrid who have a 50% sell-on fee which would transform into a discount in this case.

Samuel Gigot Could Ask to Leave

The report also believes that Samuel Gigot’s future remains uncertain. Lazio have an obligation to buy the Frenchman from Marseille at the end of the season, but the 30-year-old could request an exit as he seeks more playing time.

The Asking Price for Oumar Solet

As for Solet, the source estimates Udinese’s asking price to be between €15m and €18m, which would guarantee the Friulians a seizable windfall having signed the player for free only a few months ago.
