Lazio and Torino are still vying for the signature of Cesare Casadei but neither side has managed to secure an agreement with Chelsea. The Biancocelesti have identified the 22-year-old as their priority target to bolster the middle of the park in January, while Jacopo Fazzini and Reda Belahyane remain the alternative options.
But in addition to having to negotiate a deal with the Blues, Lazio also have to overcome competition from the Granata who are equally interested in bringing the Inter Milan youth product back to the Italian peninsula.
But while both clubs have accelerated their attempts in recent days, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio insists that neither side has managed to reach an agreement with Chelsea who have thus far refused to budge. The Premier League giants reportedly insist on their asking price of €15 million, and are only open to a permanent transfer.
So while Lazio have been willing to meet Chelsea’s price, Claudio Lotito and Co. have been trying to acquire Casadei on loan with an option to buy, a formula that the Blues categorically rejected. On the contrary, Torino are happy to seal a permanent transfer, but their offer fell short of the player’s valuation.
Hence, it remains to be seen if either side will manage to reach the finish line before the end of the winter transfer session.
