Leroy Sané refuses to bow out without a fight at Bayern Munich. Even with his contract expiry on the horizon, the player is highly motivated to earn an extension.

According to Tobias Altschäffl and Christian Falk of SportBild, Sané is not considering offers from other clubs as his full focus is on the remainder of the season with Bayern Munich. With only six months left on his contract contract, the winger can hold talks with interested clubs.

However, Sané feels very comfortable in Munich and is determined to extend his contract and remain with the Rekordmeister for the upcoming seasons. The 29-year-old is even open to accepting a performance-based contract with reduced wages. On top of that, he would also be willing to sign an extension of just two years.

Sané spoke to SportBild about his desire to continue at FC Bayern.

"Of course, clubs have already inquired about my situation. But everyone knows my position on the topic. I won't consider it at the moment, but will focus on FC Bayern and try to be as successful as possible with the team."Leroy Sané

Sané failed to hit the ground running this season which further worsened his case for a potential contract extension. Goals and assists have only come few and far between for the winger. It took him till December to string together a solid run of performances. With a brace in the 5–0 thrashing of Hoffenheim and an impactful showing against Wolfsburg, the winger will now head into the Champions League clash against Feyenoord in his best form so far this season. This resurgence, perhaps, gives the 29-year old hope to turn around his situation and earn a contract extension.

As of now, it is still unlikely that the management will decide to renew Sané's contract. This puts the winger in a race against time to impress the club's decision-makers and earn himself an extension. Turkish giant Galatasaray has shown concrete interest in signing the German international. Premier league clubs Manchester United and Arsenal are also monitoring his situation.

Bayern on the lookout for young attacking talent

Bayern are still expected to offload at least one winger in the summer. A significant revival can be expected in Bayern’s offensive department as the club wants to plan for the future. Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané are all under close scrutiny because of their inconsistent performances whilst being on hefty wages.

The club is actively sounding out the market for young attacking players. Jamie Gittens, 20, of Borussia Dortmund is a top candidate to become Bayern’s future left-winger. Vincent Kompany himself is campaigning for the signing of the English talent. Rayan Cherki, 21, of Olympique Lyon is another name on Bayern’s list of transfer targets. The Frenchman could be brought in for a relatively low fee as early as this winter window. Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz, 21, remains a highly desired candidate as a marquee signing in the future.
