Liverpool left reeling – Great to see!

Our Carabao Cup Final opponents Liverpool were left reeling after being eliminated from the European Champions League by PSG on penalties at Anfield.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg of the tie at the Parc de Princes, Liverpool were favourites to progress to the last eight of UEFA’s elite competition.
The red scousers are not used to adversity and this result should have shook their confidence somewhat, even brought a sense of reality.
You cannot bank on either and I’ll tell you why.
Their self-entitled supporters demand and expect success, and during the past decade, ultimate success is exactly what their team has delivered.
Beforehand, all that ’30 years of hurt’ baloney we had to endure, used to really boil my urine.
“Stay humble” is this season’s footballing cliche but you can hardly describe it as fitting for the average Liverpool supporter, including the plastic ones I have the misfortune to know in North Shields.
Liverpool of course, are also beyond any doubt the darlings of the English football media. These unashamed sycophants are determined to keep them on their almighty pedestal.
All of this fawning has seeped into Liverpool’s entire psyche.
I honestly believe that some of the swagger Liverpool play with comes from if you like, a ‘sixth sense’, that they are somehow divinely superior to everybody else and shalt be protected when or if need be.
For months I have heard talk of quadruples and trebles as Liverpool have stormed to what looks like an unassailable lead in the EPL.
After somewhat arrogantly racking up at Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park for an FA Cup 4th Round tie, Arne Slot’s side were then unceremoniously dumped out of the competition by the humble Pilgrims.
Of course they are still very good. They also carry a great deal of luck.
However, they are far from unbeatable. I also personally don’t think that they are as good as some of the other dominant and successful Liverpool teams over the years.
Destiny awaits for all of us who love the real United, Newcastle, and modern day history can be created in the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday.
