Liverpool’s Premier League title win this season is not only enormous for the club from a sporting perspective, but it carries huge financial importance as well.
In being crowned English champions for the 20th time, 124 years on from their very first title at the end of the 1900/01 season, Liverpool have equalled Manchester United's record for the most won by any club. It was a record they had previously held themselves for almost four decades until 2011.
But the Premier League is nothing if not a lucrative revenue stream for its members.
The Premier League has confirmed that Manchester City banked around £176m for winning each of their last two titles in 2022/23 and 2023/24. That figure is made up of an equal share for every club from the UK and international pot, plus a merit fee from both markets that is determined by league position. There are also facility fees and a share of central commercial revenue.
As new champions, Liverpool are expected to match Manchester City's £176m windfall, with The Athletic reporting that the club could overall break £700m in revenue for the first time in 2024/25. The exact amount will be confirmed at some point next season when accounts are published.
Record revenue for any Premier League is £715m, raked in by Manchester City last season, a marginal rise from just shy of £713m during the previous campaign in 2022/23.
