Dino Toppmöller, Kevin Trapp and Rasmus Kristensen share their thoughts after Eintracht reached the Europa League round of 16.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “We lost the game but reached the last 16, so it’s mission accomplished. We didn’t play well – it wasn’t a good game of football in general. To be third in the Bundesliga after 19 matchdays and heading to Rome in second place in the Europa League with this young squad is extraordinary. Our performance obviously wasn’t good, but finishing fifth is impressive and we’re happy to have reached the last 16.”
Kevin Trapp: “Overall, we didn’t perform well enough to win the game. We’re pleased to have finished in the top eight and qualified directly [for the last 16].”
Rasmus Kristensen: “We’re obviously disappointed with our performance, but we’re happy to be in the last 16. That was the most important thing – we’ve achieved our objective for the league phase. We weren’t good enough today and deserved to lose, but we’d managed to get ourselves in a very good position to secure direct qualification going into the game.”
