The transfer plans of Manchester United could intertwine with their rivals Manchester City, as both clubs are reportedly willing to break the bank for Atalanta’s Ederson.
The Brazilian has been plying his trade in Serie A since signing for Salernitana in January 2022. It only took the midfielder a brief spell with the Salerno side to convince Gian Piero Gasperini to bring him to Bergamo the following summer. Since then, he has been omnipresent in La Dea’s starting lineup.
While many feared that Atalanta could drop a notch or two after losing their star midfielder Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus last summer, the Dutchman’s absence has hardly been noticed, as the Europa League winners continue to grow from strength to strength. They currently lead the Serie A table.
The club’s exploits are partially thanks to Ederson’s exploits in the middle of the park. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano describes him as a fantastic player for his immense work-rate and influential displays. Therefore, it’s no surprise to see the 25-year-old being linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
According to Fichajes.net, Man United and Man City have both identified Ederson as the right player to bolster their midfield department.

Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens have been on a free fall since Rodri’s ACL injury, illustrating the club’s dire need for a physical midfielder who can cover for the Ballon d’Or winner’s absence.
For their part, the Red Devils will be looking to make substantial changes to provide Ruben Amorim with a competitive squad capable of implementing his ideas, and this will certainly include one or two midfield additions.
As the source explains, Atalanta currently value their star midfielder at €60 million, a figure that could potentially rise. Nevertheless, this won’t scare away the Manchester rivals who would be willing to splash up to €70 if required.
This season, Ederson has thus far made 22 appearances in all competitions, contributing with two goals and an assist.
