Juventus and Manchester City are set to engage in discussions over the future of full-back Andrea Cambiaso on Friday, it has been confirmed.
The Italy international has rapidly emerged as possibly the Premier League champions’ next transfer target this month, after the club concluded a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for Omar Marmoush on Thursday.
The Egyptian forward could become City’s third official arrival of the January transfer window by as soon as Sunday evening, despite the focus within the first-team group very much being isolated on their upcoming Premier League clash with Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Marmoush will follow Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Brazilian centre-back Vitor Reis through the entrance doors of the City Football Academy training base this week, with both players now in Manchester to undergo medical testing.
But news of Kyle Walker’s intended exit from Manchester City this month, amid growing interest from both Milan clubs, has sparked an intensified hunt for a new full-back to bring into Pep Guardiola’s first-team roster.
According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, City will hold direct talks with Juventus on Friday to discuss a potential deal for Italy international full-back, Andrea Cambiaso.
It is revealed that initial talks on the player’s side were ‘positive’ over a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, plus the option for a further season as part of the same proposal, while talks between the two clubs this week will also involve the possible timing of a deal.
Manchester City will no doubt be keen to add to their fine work already completed in the market this month, while Juventus will be desperate to ensure that Cambiaso remains at the club until after the ongoing campaign.
Sources at the Etihad Stadium moved swiftly earlier on Thursday to deny any advanced talks for Andrea Cambiaso, insisting that while the player is of interest, it could yet become a deal that is only explored next summer.
Juventus could still be part of Manchester City’s transfer plans this month, even if Cambiaso does not move any further than a dialogue over future intentions, as the club remains interested in bringing in a new central midfielder.
There has been tentative interest from the club in Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz, although there has also been no progress on that front beyond media reports concerning Manchester City and a possible swoop for their former prospect.
