Manchester United haven’t had the best of seasons in the Premier League despite Ruben Amorim replacing Erik Ten Hag. The Red Devils need a lot of changes to their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window if they need to compete in the next season. There is no doubt that Amorim will be focusing on that and the area they will need to strengthen is the position of a striker.
They have lacked consistent goals and their number nine Ramsus Hojlund has not been that impressive in front of the goal. Florian Plettenberg has reported that United are interested in signing the 22-year-old striker from Eintracht Frankfurt, Hugo Ekitike.
The Frenchman is one of the best young players in the Bundesliga and has been in sensational form in the ongoing season. Ekitike has scored 13 goals in 25 matches so far in the Bundesliga 2024/2025 season. His total G/A (goals + assists) is 17 for this season.
The 22-year-old is a handful up front. He is tall and uses his frame to boss defenders. Ekitike’s pace surprises; he bursts past markers quickly. The French striker’s finishing is sharp and he is cool-headed in the box. He has got flair, flicking the ball with swagger. Ekitike links play well, dropping deep to connect attacks. His work rate is solid, as he hustles for every chance.
The Frenchman dribbles smoothly as he moves easily through tight spaces. He is young, just 22, but plays with guts. Aerially, the striker is strong and wins headers with ease. From Ligue 1 to Frankfurt, he is proving his worth. Ekitike is a modern forward: raw, hungry, and full of promise.
From Manchester United’s view, targeting Hugo Ekitike is a cracking move. Amorim has got to fix United’s attack. Rasmus Hojlund has been shaky, and the club have been starving for goals. Ekitike is 22, tearing it up at Frankfurt with 13 goals in 25 Bundesliga games. That’s 17 goal contributions this season—proper firepower. He is young, hungry, and fits the fast, sharp style that the Red Devils need. Sure, Frankfurt might charge €80 million, which is steep, but for a top striker in red-hot form, it’s worth it. Manchester United can’t keep failing. Is it a right call? Absolutely—get him in!
