After being dropped by Ruben Amorim - along with Alejandro Garnacho - from the squad for Sunday’s derby win over Manchester City, it was reported by the Guardian that the Red Devils would be open to a cut-price offer for the 27-year-old.

The report also stated that while an exit in the January transfer window would be ideal, Rashford's salary of £365,000 a week means only a few clubs could afford him.

As speculation with regard to his future refuses to go away, the forward, in an interview with football writer Henry Winter published on X, responded to headlines detailing United’s desire to sell him by making a huge statement.

"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse,”he said. “I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person.

"When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.

"When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.

"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps."

This development comes after Amorim warned his players they hold “incredibly high” standards as he expanded on his decision to drop Rashford last weekend.

“It's not a disciplinary thing,” the Portuguese tactician insisted.

“Next week it's a new week, new life. It's how you dress, how you eat and how you interact with your team mates.

“When people in the club are losing their jobs, we have to push our standards incredibly high.”

With Amorim due to speak to the press on Wednesday ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Tottenham, he is sure to be quizzed about Rashford’s comments.

Furthermore, it remains to be seen if Rashford will be in contention to return to the Man Utd matchday squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
