Enzo Maresca has claimed “someone has to be embarrassed” after the decisions that have gone against Chelsea in their last five matches.

The Blues made a really good start to the season, but are currently in a difficult run of form and are winless in their last five games following last weeks 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Three points from the last 15 has seen Chelsea drop out of the top four, but a win against Wolves on Monday night would see Maresca’s men move back into fourth and two points clear of Newcastle and Manchester City.

Chelsea have created more than enough chances to win the majority of the last five games, but the Blues have been so wasteful in front of goal.

Maresca showed his frustration at this after the Bournemouth game, although he’s backed Nicolas Jackson to start finding the back of the net again.

The Blues have also been on the wrong end of a number of poor referring decisions in the last five games, with David Brooks lucky to escape with just a booking last Tuesday, something Maresca believes the powers that be should be embarrassed about.

“If you ask me, against Southampton, it was a red card (for Jack Stephens pulling Cucurella’s hair). The other day, for me, against Bournemouth, it was a red card (for Brooks),” he said as quoted by Mail Sport.

“They can say anything they want but in the end, we are not going to change a thing. They didn’t whistle for a penalty for us and then we got a mail apologising, saying it should have been a penalty. But we don’t need apologies.

“In the last game against Bournemouth, it was the first time in the Premier League that they say it was a red card and (referee Rob Jones) said it was a yellow card.

“Someone has to be embarrassed about these kind of things, but not us. I love my players, all of them.”

Maresca will be hoping Chelsea aren’t on the receiving end of any more bad decisions against Wolves on Monday in what is now a must win game.
