Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi wants to join Roma | OneFootball

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are looking to strengthen their defensive line for next season by targetting a move for Olympique de Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi (26).

The Argentine is thought to have strong support from his international teammates already present in the Roma squad, Paulo Dybala (31) and Leandro Paredes (30). The Italian outlet also writes that Balerdi has had his head turned by the opportunity and has agreed to a transfer over the summer with negotiations between the two clubs having already commenced.

Balerdi has been a key part of this Marseille squad that looks to be charting a return to Champions League football under head coach Roberto De Zerbi. On the pitch, the defender has often been the first point of call when Marseille look to build out from the defence, while in the dressing room, he has taken a defining leadership role.
