USA Men’s National Team manager Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about Auston Trusty’s withdrawal from the international squad. The former Tottenham and PSG manager was asked to comment on the Celtic defender being one of three players to withdraw.
Speaking at a USMNT media conference, Pochettino confirmed the problems for each player after Brendan Rodgers revealed the player had picked up a calf injury.
“For different reasons but medical reasons, they are not here for that, and it’s difficult to explain because I am not a doctor.
“I am not the right guy to say and to explain what happened with these guys but I see for different reasons they have some problems.
“And for medical reasons, that is why they cannot be here for the CONCACAF.”
It is a potentially bizarre way to confirm that three of his players are injured. However, it was clear that Trusty had picked up an injury of some concern given that he missed the game at the weekend.
Trusty missed the Glasgow Derby game against Rangers after picking up a calf injury at training. The 26-year-old has been impressive since joining from Sheffield United in a deal worth £4.5m, striking up a partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers.
