Mediaset: Conte not among candidates as Milan initiate contacts with Sarri | OneFootball

AC Milan’s pursuit of a new head coach is continuing and according to a report, contacts have been initiated with Maurizio Sarri. Antonio Conte, on the other hand, isn’t being considered by the Rossoneri.

With just five games left of the season, Milan have started planning for next season and while the sporting director position remains vacant, some head coaches are being evaluated. Indeed, since the identikit is clear regardless of the director, a list has been made.

According to SportMediaset (see photo below), the following names are on Milan’s wish list: Max Allegri, Gian Piero Gasperini, Maurizio Sarri, Vincenzo Italiano, Roberto De Zerbi and Carlo Ancelotti. Out of these six, Allegri is currently the favourite in the race

Gasperini is also a name that entices the Rossoneri, but there is still some uncertainty regarding his future with Atalanta. Sarri, on the other hand, wants to relaunch himself at a big club and per the report, there have been contacts between the parties.

Vincenzo Italiano and Carlo Ancelotti are more unlikely; the former because he isn’t considered fully ready for the big leap and the latter because he remains a dream more than a concrete suggestion. Finally, De Zerbi could leave Marseille but he’s not a top choice of the Rossoneri management.

The report also added that for the time being, Milan aren’t considering Conte as a target given that he’s under contract with Napoli. Even though some reports have made it sound like a departure is certain for the former Chelsea manager, that isn’t necessarily the case.
