Mike Maignan and Milan are reportedly closing in on a deal to extend the contract of the 29-year-old goalkeeper, who should see his wages almost doubled.

The French’s international current deal expires in June 2026 and renewal is a priority for the Rossoneri, who want to avoid dragging the negotiations until next summer, when Maignan would only have one year remaining on his contract.

However, Milan were already confident about reaching an agreement in recent weeks, and according to Milan News the latest talks between the two parties have been ‘very positive’.

Maignan set to extend Milan contract until 2028

Following recent negotiations, Milan are said to be on the verge of striking a deal with Maignan to extend his contract until 2028.

The renewal of the bond would see Maignan become one of the team’s highest earners, increasing his wages to more than €5m per year, a significant rise compared to his current seasonal €3.2m.

That is still a long way off his reported salary demands of €7m and upwards per season.

One of the Rossoneri’s Scudetto heroes in 2022, Maignan’s following seasons have been partially affected by injuries, as he looked more vulnerable both in terms of consistency of his displays and goals conceded.

However, he seems back to his best form during this initial part of the season under Paulo Fonseca, piling up a series of convincing performances despite his side’s defensive fragility, including the one which helped Milan secure a 2-1 win over city rivals Inter in the Derby della Madonnina.
