Napoli will be on the lookout for a new striker to add to Romelu Lukaku in the summer, and Lorenzo Lucca and Rasmus Hojlund are currently topping their wish list. The Partenopei will be very active to prepare for the Champions League, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

Their management is gearing up to make at least seven acquisitions. The new marksman will alternate with the veteran and occasionally partner with them. They’ll go younger in this case, as he would ideally take over not too far down the line.

Napoli earmarked Lucca and Hojlund in particular as both could be on their way out in the summer. The Udinese star is expected to join a top club for about €35/40M after growing consistently in Friuli in the past two seasons.

Instead, the former Atalanta prodigy has failed to fully get it going at Manchester United like many other players. He was signed for €75M, plus €10M add-ons, in 2023. He has totaled 24 goals in 82 matches. He wouldn’t mind returning to Italy, but his valuation is very high. The Red Devils ask for at least €60M to avoid a loss.

The Azzurri have kicked the tires on both already. The Italian forward is currently in the lead. He makes just €250k annually.

Our Take on Napoli, Lucca, and Hojlund

It’ll be interesting to see how Antonio Conte handles the rotation next year, as he might not renounce to Lukaku much. Ideally, they’d sign somebody who would fit well next to him too. The Dane would be better for that, but he’s very expensive relative to his performances. The breadcrumbs hint at a relatively quick deal with Udinese.
