According to a report from Le Parisien, the NBA has approached Paris Saint-Germain’s owners, QSI, over the prospect of a Parisian basketball franchise. Reportedly, a club spokesman confirmed they had been contacted, stating, “We have expressed interest.”
The French outlet states that this confirms the NBA’s interest in developing a league in Europe as soon as possible, with rumours in the Spanish media of a ten-league championship being created for 2026-2027. 11 cities across seven countries are thought to be in favour (London, Manchester, Berlin, Munich, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Rome, Istanbul, Athens, and Paris).
Le Parisien alleges that QSI have been presented with two different proposals from the NBA, including the purchase of a Parisian team or the creation of a new team independent from PSG that would include other investors.
Last year, NBA superstar Kevin Durant became a minority stakeholder in PSG via the Arctos Partners investment fund, which owns a 12.5% share in the club.
