Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij is fit and ready to start in tomorrow’s Serie A match away to Cagliari.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that Matteo Darmian would be unlikely to start the clash, however.
Inter defender de Vrij has been dealing with a bit of a fitness problem in the last week or so.
The Dutchman had started a run of matches for Inter in the absence of Francesco Acerbi.
However, de Vrij was not able to start against Como in Serie A last Monday.
The 32-year-old did manage to come off the bench for the closing stages of that match. However, he had to grit his teeth through some pain in order to do so.
According to Sky, however, de Vrij has fully shaken off the problem that he’d been dealing with.
There is certainly no doubt that the former Lazio and Feyenoord defender will be in the squad for Inter’s match tomorrow. They face Cagliari away in their final Serie A match of 2024.
But more than being able to start, de Vrij should be able to start as well.
That certainly comes as a boost for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. The coach is currently dealing with a real injury crisis at the back.
Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavarad are still on the sidelines with thigh strains.
Meanwhile, Matteo Darmian will not be ready to start tomorrow.
