Official: Sartori rejects big offers and extends Bologna contract | OneFootball

Bologna have formally extended their contract with technical director Giovanni Sartori to 2027, despite links with Milan, Roma, Napoli and more.

The 67-year-old is widely considered to be the architect of their recent success, including qualification for the Champions League and current progress to the Coppa Italia semi-finals.

Following a career as a player, he held directorial roles at Chievo and Atalanta until coming to Bologna in the summer of 2022.

There had been reports linking Satori with a possible new experience within Serie A at Napoli, Milan or Roma, with clubs eager to make the most of his expertise.

However, this afternoon Bologna released a statement confirming he had extended his contract to June 30, 2027.

“The extension of Giovanni Sartori’s contract ensures consistency to a technical project that in these years has allowed us to achieve excellent results,” said President Joey Saputo on the club website.

General manager Claudio Fenucci also added that the confirmation of Sartori maintains the “organisation and planning aimed at keeping the club at a high level of competitiveness.”

Amongst others, Bologna have in recent years churned out big profits on players like Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori.
