What do you predict with the final 2024/25 Premier League table?
Following this past weekend’s results.
Newcastle United of course had other things to worry about at Wembley AND then celebrate when the final whistle went.
However, a lot of Premier League matches played out over the weekend, a fair few of them affecting Newcastle United and our hopes of Champions League qualification.
This was the 29th round of Premier League matches, with now 18 clubs having played 29 PL matches, with Newcastle v Crystal Palace postponed until Wednesday 16 April.
Where do you now see Newcastle United fitting in when it comes to the end of the season?
This is how the Premier League table currently (Tuesday 18 March 2025) looks:
When it comes to predicting what that final Premier League table will look like after the 38th round of fixtures in May 2025, Opta have done some analysis.
Using their latest data simulations, Opta analysis has shown this as the most likely 2024/25 Premier League table come the end of the season – Predicted table as at 18 March 2025:
So when it comes to Newcastle United, Opta currently believe NUFC most likely to finish fifth this season
Newcastle United to end up with 64 points according to their predictions.
The Opta model currently predicting a 32% chance of Newcastle United qualifying for the Champions League via finishing top four and 22% chance of ending up in the Europa League.
However, the reality is that Newcastle United have a much higher chance of Champions League football than via that top four prediction, as it will be top five who qualify.
It is now ‘virtually impossible’ for the Premier League not to get one of the two extra Champions League places, based on collective results in Europe this season for all leagues.
We are all of course still coming to terms with Newcastle United winning that first trophy in a ‘little’ while.
However, that victory at West Ham eight days ago and the fact that Chelsea and Bournemouth lost at the weekend, whilst Man City and Brighton drew, has now made the outlook very positive for potential Champions League qualification on top of that Carabao Cup victory!
