Arsenal have been linked with a January move for Victor Osimhen, so here’s all you need to know about the Nigerian’s transfer situation and release clause.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September 2024 after negotiations with Al-Ahli, PSG, and Chelsea had collapsed.
The Turkish giants do not have an option to buy, so the player is expected to return to the Stadio Maradona in the summer, but he will not remain long-term.
Osimhen’s contract with Napoli expires in June 2026, but the Partenopei agreed to a clause extending the agreement to 2027 before sending the striker on loan to Galatasaray last year.

Osimhen will have a €75m clause to leave Napoli permanently next summer, but according to RAI Sport, the fee to sign him on a permanent deal this month is €90m, given that Galatasaray would get part of the fee if Osimhen leaves in January.
This, however, seems an unlikely scenario as Galatasaray’s coach and directors have reiterated that the Nigerian will remain at the club until the end of the season.
La Repubblica reported earlier this month that Osimhen had rejected a chance to join Manchester United in the winter transfer window. Transfer expert Pete O’Rourke recently claimed that Arsenal were “exploring a move” for the Nigeria international “as they look to bolster their attacking options before the close of the transfer window.”
Osimhen’s Napoli salary is €10m, but Galatasaray will pay just €6m in wages for the current campaign.
The 26-year-old striker has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 18 appearances across all competitions with Galatasaray this season.
