So much talk surrounding Spanish juggernaut Real Madrid across the 2024/25 season has been about French star Kylian Mbappé, and rightly so.
Despite the former PSG ace arriving on the scene with bags of goals at a rate others may not have expected so soon, fans will not forget who came before him; Cristiano Ronaldo.
On this day 15 years ago, fans saw the living Portuguese legend hit a first La Liga hat trick ahead of many during a period in the Spanish capital that will remain etched in the club's already-otherworldly lore.
After going down a goal away from home against Mallorca after a 16th-minute strike from Aritz Aduri, Ronaldo bagged the equaliser ten minutes later before connecting with two further hammer strokes after the break, propelling Los Blancos to a 4-1 win
Though Real Madrid would finish runner-up to bitter rivals Barcelona come the end of the season, Ronaldo was well on his way to becoming one of the most storied players in the club's history.
