The Leeds full-back is under no illusions as to how important Monday's Yorkshire derby is.

Leeds United full-back Junior Firpo believes his side can "overrun" Sheffield United in Monday's trip to Bramall Lane.

The Whites travel from West to South Yorkshire on Monday to take on their closest title rivals, with both sides occupying the automatic promotion places ahead of the game.

Leeds will come into the game buoyed by their comeback win over another promotion-chasing side last week in Sunderland - a win for which Firpo credits his side's intensity across the entire game.

The Spaniard knows that Leeds couldn't celebrate their win over Sunderland for too long though, with the focus quickly shifting to Sheffield United.

Nevertheless, the win has added extra confidence to Daniel Farke's side, and Firpo feels that if Leeds can play their attacking brand of football at Bramall Lane, they'll be on their way to a league double over the Blades.

Junior Firpo says that the magnitude of Monday's battle with Sheffield United has made it easier for Leeds to focus on the game, despite the manic ending to their win over Sunderland.

Speaking to LUTV, as per the Yorkshire Evening Post, Firpo said: "It will be easy to do (focus) because it's a really important game.

"I'm not going to say we're more focused when it's an important game, but we all know as a group it will be easy to get back to this winning mentality.

"I think [we need to] go there, be brave on the ball, play our attacking football, put pressure on them and overrun them. It's an easy game to focus on, it's easy to concentrate. It's a game everyone wants to play in and of course, we want to win."

Leeds United have won their last four league games - with their late win against Sunderland at Elland Road extending their current unbeaten run to 15 league games.

Their strength in depth has allowed them to keep their intense style of play up for 90 minutes - something which was clearly on show in their comeback win over Sunderland.

Both goals against Sunderland came from substitute Pascal Struijk and were assisted by Joe Rothwell, who came off the bench alongside the Dutchman on 71 minites to help contribute to a monumental turnaround.

Firpo feels the amount of quality across the whole squad is key in a title-challenging side, and will prove wholly beneficial in Monday's important battle with Sheffield United.

"We had a period with a few players who were playing really well but then got injured. Others came into the starting 11 and did really well," Firpo added.

"We have players like Pascal [Struijk], who is such an important player for the squad, but when we're not conceding goals it's difficult for the manager to change the team.

"Then you have players on the bench not even playing any minutes, like Willy Gnonto who is an unbelievable player. This is what shows the depth we have.

"This is really important if you want to try and win the league."

Sheffield United also have their depth that has strengthened since the closure of the mid-season transfer window, with Tom Cannon and Ben Brereton-Diaz among the names arriving at Bramall Lane.
