Pedri reveals the one club he admires apart from Barcelona in recent interview | OneFootball

FC Barcelona is a club that many players dream of joining at some point in their careers. After all, it simply does not get much bigger than that in terms of both prestige and challenge. However, even making it to the Barcelona first team in itself is a massive accomplishment.

Yet, there are some players who seem to be born to play for the Catalan club. From their style of play to their understanding of the fundamentals of football, certain players live and breathe the Blaugrana colors and are meant to play at Barcelona at one stage or another.

Pedri is one such player, and even during his days at Las Palmas he managed to exhibit the qualities that were essential to be a Barcelona midfielder. Despite not being from La Masia, he plays like a midfielder who has been taught the ways of the Catalan club from the very beginning.

However, for the Barcelona midfielder, there is one other club that he seems to admire a lot as well. In a recent interview with Barça One, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the 22-year-old Spanish midfielder was asked to reveal if he admired a club apart from Barcelona.

To that question, he responded with a club that is currently competing in the English Premier League and is also the home of a certain Barcelona icon:

“Manchester City.”

Home to former Barcelona legend Pep Guardiola, it is a team that many have stated follows the philosophies and core principles that made Barça as successful as they once were, albeit with their own unique twists. An extremely successful side under Guardiola, it makes sense why Pedri would appreciate the way they operate and play.

However, the praise for things related to Manchester City did not end there. When asked to speak about other players in his position that he admires, he mentioned a certain Barcelona legend and a midfielder who is an icon for the Manchester-based club as well:

“Iniesta and, for example, De Bruyne.”

Moreover, the Barcelona star even revealed if he would ever ask Kevin De Bruyne for his shirt in the future if he got the chance:

“Yes.”

The Belgian is regarded by many as one of the most impressive midfielders to ever grace the Premier League, so Pedri’s admiration is more than justified. However, the Barcelona star is himself enjoying a great season, and has often stepped up for the team whenever they have needed him the most.
