Portsmouth forward Elias Sorensen is set for a move to Norway
Portsmouth forward Elias Sorensen is in Norway completing a move away from the Championship club, with the transfer fee expected to be similar to the one which Pompey paid for his services last summer.
That's according to an X post written by BBC South Sports reporter and Pompey commentator Andrew Moon, after the story was originally broken by Farzam Abolhosseini.
Meanwhile, Danish outlet Tipsbladet have added that the striker is set to join Norwegian top-flight outfit Valerenga, in a move worth around €300,000.
Sorensen moved to Fratton Park from Danish top-flight outfit Esbjerg fB in a six-figure deal last summer, after notching an incredible return of 43 goals and 22 assists in 84 appearances for his former club, as per TransferMarkt.
But prior to hitting prolific form in his native Denmark, the striker struggled to make a name for himself in senior football in England, after rising through the youth academy ranks at Newcastle United.
In fact, Sorensen never made a senior appearance for the Magpies, instead enduring loan spells with Blackpool and Carlisle United during the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons respectively.
But he made just one League One appearance for the Tangerines, in which he failed to yield a goal contribution, while his spell at Carlisle was also far from successful.
During his time with the Cumbrian outfit, Sorensen made 12 appearances across all competitions, but did not manage to score, although he did create two assists in three EFL Trophy outings.
Sorensen subsequently scored five goals and made three assists in 23 League appearances while on loan with Dutch outfit Almere City, but it was not enough to impress Newcastle, who allowed him to join Esbjerg on a permanent basis during the summer of 2021.
However, having seen his impressive form in Denmark, Pompey handed the 25-year-old an opportunity to make his return to the English game.
Sorensen's Pompey debut could not have gone much better either, as John Mousinho put the summer signing in his starting 11 for the opening game of the Championship season, and he scored after just 23 minutes during a thrilling 3-3 draw with Leeds United.
Since making an impressive second tier debut back in August, the striker has gone on to feature in just 12 of the Hampshire outfit's 24 league fixtures this season.
Furthermore, Sorensen has failed to score since his aforementioned goal against Leeds, while he has only been named in Mousinho's starting lineup on a further three occasions.
All in all, the Dane's departure will not be a great loss for Pompey, who are benefiting from the services of fellow forward Callum Lang, who has scored nine goals in 20 Championship appearances.
