Manchester United extended their Craven Cottage streak to eight wins in a row last night, with their last defeat coming all the way back in December 2009.
The match was, however, one of the most unexciting and tedious 90 minutes of football any fan will sit through this season. Neither side were willing to go all-out for a result, so spent the entirety of the affair moving up the pitch before playing the ball back to their respective defenders – and so on.
A deflected strike from Lisandro Martinez looped into the net in the 78th minute – despite Bernd Leno’s best efforts to keep it over the bar by getting his fingertips to it – to seal all three points in a bizarrely scheduled Sunday evening clash.
No player covered themself in glory throughout the night, which was only further proven by the fact Martinez was named Man of the Match solely for breaking the deadlock. Yet, one Red, in particular, is enduring a truly torrid run of form.
Rasmus Hojlund was given the nod by Ruben Amorim in West London in hopes that the Dane would add to his two-goal Premier League tally for the campaign.

As has so frequently been the case, Hojlund oversaw an inadequate showing that culminated with him making only 21 touches while losing possession a whopping 11 times.
He failed to win any of his six aerial duels attempted, won only two of his five ground duels attempted and was unable to register even a shot on goal in the 58 minutes he played, as per Sofascore. Now navigating his second season in England’s top flight, Hojlund is still yet to adjust to the demands of the division – and has failed to score in 36 of his 48 league appearances.
Fans shouldn’t be criticised for demanding more from their £72 million striker, though fingers must be pointed at the board for sanctioning such a ludicrous deal in the first place.
