Bristol City and Preston North End clash this Saturday at Ashton Gate in Matchweek 46 of the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 12:30 on Sky Sports +.
The Robins have won 67 points to date and currently sit in 5th position. In their last game, however, Liam Manning's team lost 4-0 against Leeds United.
Preston North End, meanwhile, have 49 points and lie in 20th position. In their last encounter, Paul Heckingbottom's team were beaten 1-2 by Plymouth Argyle.
The last meeting between the two teams ended with Bristol City winning 3-1.
Ben Mead (Robins on Tour): Right then. This is it. The final game of the season and it's do or die for Bristol City. The task is simple, win at home vs Preston North End and secure a play-off spot for the first time in 17 years.
However, we haven't done it the easy way. We've had two missed opportunities to already confirm a spot, and instead have decided to take it down to the last day, coming off the back of two really poor defeats on the road, conceding seven and only scoring once.
But, back at the Gate, where we've been fantastic this season, especially in the second half of the campaign, with one of the best home records in the league, it's completely in our hands.
Simple as this, win our game - we finish in the top 6.
Draw or lose and we'll be relying on other teams.
Come on City...
Martin Ryan (@PNEFC_Stats): Just one win in the last 14 for Preston as they head to Bristol City for the final game of the season. Only a win will guarantee Championship football again next season, but matching the results of Hull or Luton would also save Preston from the drop.
The feeling amongst supporters is it is looking like League One football next season as it’s five defeats and two draws since the FA Cup quarter final defeat to Aston Villa.
Ali McCann, Brad Potts, Jack Whatmough, Freddie Woodman and Mads Frokjaer remain out injured. Sam Greenwood should be available for selection.
Bristol City: Max O´Leary, Zak Vyner, Rob Dickie, George Tanner, Ross McCrorie, Joe Williams, Jason Knight, Haydon Roberts, George Earthy, Nahki Wells, Max Bird
Preston North End: Dai Cornell, Jordan Storey, Liam Lindsay, Lewis Gibson, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Stefán Thórdarson, Benjamin Whiteman, Robbie Brady, Andrew Hughes, Milutin Osmajic, Sam Greenwood
