Paris Saint-Germain opted for a short-term solution by sending Xavi Simons on loan to RB Leipzig for another season, but the saga has now ended with the German club holding onto the player.

In September, Christian Falk reported that Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Simons’ situation.

Meanwhile, interest from Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Manchester United earlier this summer underscores the Dutch midfielder’s growing appeal among Europe’s elite. According to Sport Bild, Leipzig are keen to make Simons’ stay permanent as early as January.

Despite the €80 million price tag that PSG set, it was a significant hurdle, but that appears to have resolved as RB Leipzig are staying with Simons.

On Thursday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Simons has become an RB Leipzig player on permanent transfer from PSG. The deal between the two sides is an €80 million package add-ons included starting from €55m as an initial fee plus a sell-on clause.

Romano adds that the contract is valid until June 2027 and that Simons will be one to watch already in the summer as he could be on the move with various clubs already monitoring him.

Recently, journalist Christian Falk reported that Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl still has Simons on his radar and is expected to make another push to sign him from PSG in the summer of 2025, especially with Florian Wirtz off the market.
