PSG to appeal Kylian Mbappé wage dispute ruling | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are asking the French Professional Football League (LFP) to revisit the case between themselves and Kylian Mbappé (25).

On September 12, the LFP ordered the club to pay the five-time Ligue 1 top goalscorer €55m in unpaid wages, giving them eight days to pay the French captain. PSG filed for the appeal on Thursday per RMC Sport, the day before the wages were supposed to be paid.

Mbappé, who left his hometown club to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, had previously contacted the LFP’s Legal Committee, which had a session last week with all sides present.

Following the conclusion of that meeting, Mbappé’s representatives told Associated Press that the club’s record goalscorer had asked the commission to take note of the non-payment of three months’ salary and the last third of a loyalty business.

According to L’Équipe, the French governing body (LFP) cannot force the reigning Ligue 1 champions to pay their former star striker. However, they have the authority to impose sanctions on Les Parisiens, including a potential transfer ban.

PSG argue they don’t owe Mbappé anything, claiming that he allegedly stipulated before the 2023-24 campaign began that he’d relinquish all bonuses after his reintegration into the team. The Paris-born and bred striker chose not to extend his deal with the club before the start of that season.
