Inter Milan are embattled and tired – but they are still in the running for a Treble with the Serie A title and the Champions League.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
The last few weeks have not been particularly kind ones for Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri have dropped points in four out of their last six Serie A matches.
There have been draws against AC Milan and Napoli, and losses to Fiorentina and Juventus.
And in the meantime, Inter have also had to deal with a number of injuries. There is a particular sense that the fixture list has really taken its toll on the Nerazzurri.
Clearly, this Inter team has taken a beating with so many difficult matches to fight in.
The Nerazzurri have seen injuries piled up. The latest problem has been a concentration of injuries in the wingback role – Federico Dimarco has joined Matteo Darmian, Carlos Augusto, and Nicola Zalewski on the treatment table.

And beyond that, there is no denying that Inter have simply appeared to be missing some freshness and sharpness.
Against Napoli in this weekend’s top-of-the-table Serie A clash, Inter really had to dig in in the second half.
The Partenopei overran the reigning champions in midfield and penned them deep into their own half.
Inter largely defended their penalty area well, in any case. And even with the disappointment of a late Napoli equalizer, a point was a decent result.
However, there’s no ignoring the feeling that a more physically robust Inter would have managed to push up more and gain ground in the final third.
Still, the conundrum of this Inter is that they’ve still just about navigated these difficulties.
It’s clearly going to be very difficult for this embattled Inter team to handle the intense fixture list of big matches. Starting with this week against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
But so far, the Nerazzurri have managed to stay in the running despite the challenges and setbacks.
