La Liga champions Real Madrid have late on Friday been dealt a blow on the transfer front.
This comes amid confirmation that long-time transfer target Alphonso Davies is on the verge of extending his terms with Bayern Munich.
The name of defender Davies has of course long proven a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital.
This comes amid the widespread understanding that the Canadian international has been identified as the ideal addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid backline.
Ahead of the expiration of Davies’ contract in Munich in the summer, Florentino Pérez and co. have in turn long been hard at work in an effort to bring the 24-year-old in.
Safe to say, then, that it will mark a blow for all associated with Los Blancos to learn of Davies inching towards penning an extension at the Allianz Arena.
As per a report from the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic:
‘Bayern Munich are close to an agreement with Alphonso Davies over a new contract. Only a small gap remains between Bayern and the 24-year-old left-back’s expectations on a proposed four-year deal.’
