Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos was impressed by Francesco Acerbi’s performance against Barcelona, saying that he’d pick the Inter defender over a security system.

The former Germany international commented on Inter’s epic win over Barcelona on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast.

The Nerazzurri secured a 7-6 aggregate victory to qualify for the Champions League Final, and Kroos was particularly impressed by Acerbi’s performance in the second-leg tie at San Siro.

The Italian defender scored a dramatic equaliser in the stoppages, sending the game to extra time.

“If I had to choose between an alarm system, a German Shepherd and an Acerbi in front of the hose, I’d choose Acerbi. Truly pure mentality,” Kroos said via Sport1.

“Dumfries and Bastoni are machines, too. They turned the game around twice. Hats off to Barcelona as well. It was an extraordinary advertisement for football. It felt like anything could happen at any moment,” Kroos added via SportMediaset.

“I’m not saying I’m an Inter fan, but maybe the last ten years influenced me to the point where I felt a bit against Barcelona.

“I was happy for Inter, pleased when the result was 3-3. You really have to praise Flick for the way Barcelona plays. It’s simply spectacular. Both teams knew exactly how to hurt the other. Inter defended incredibly well and scored seven goals.”

The former Real Madrid midfielder already said a few months ago that he’d see himself playing for Inter if he had not retired at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

A 2014 World Cup winner with Germany, Kroos won the Champions League six times in his career, five times with the Merengues and once with Bayern Munich.

Inter will meet PSG in the Champions League Final in Munich on May 31.
