Real Madrid make fresh contact with Jürgen Klopp | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid are refusing to let up in their pursuit of the services of ex-Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp.

That’s according to Marca, as cited by Estadio Deportivo, who have on Sunday provided an insight into the situation.

The subject of the bench in Madrid has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines across not only Spain, but all of Europe over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the final nail was driven into the coffin of current Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti.

After overseeing a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, Ancelotti is expected to be imminently relieved of his duties.

As things stand, Bayer Leverkusen headmaster Xabi Alonso is the widespread favourite to take up the reins at the Santiago Bernabéu.

But if the latest word stemming from Spain on Sunday evening is anything to go by, then Alonso is far from the only candidate.

In fact, as per ED:

‘According to a report by Marca, Real Madrid have called Jürgen Klopp’s entourage on two occasions to find out about his situation and his availability to take charge of the Merengue club.’

For the time being, Klopp is seen as happy in his new role as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, but the German could well be tempted into a move to Spain down the line.
