A head-turning statistic, highlighting the influence of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé in the final third across the season to date, has on Friday come to the fore online.

Frontman Mbappé is of course in the midst of what has been something of a hit-and-miss debut campaign in Spain to date.

After opening the term in altogether shaky fashion with a string of underwhelming performances, recent months have seen the France international begin to find his stride.

All told, Mbappé has racked up 28 goals and four assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

And, owing to his efforts en route to as much, the former Paris Saint-Germain standout actually leads all forwards in Europe’s top-five leagues in one statistical category.

As revealed by statisticians Opta:

‘Kylian Mbappé has been involved in 279 shot-ending attacking sequences this season in all competitions, more than any other forward in Europe’s top five leagues.’

Close behind on 275 is Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah, with in-form Barcelona winger Raphinha rounding out the top three.
