Thibaut Courtois is set to make his return to international football, with the Real Madrid goalkeeper once again available for selection for Belgium.
After a prolonged absence from the national team, Courtois is expected to rejoin the squad next month as Belgium prepares for their upcoming matches.
The experienced shot-stopper had previously distanced himself from the national team due to disagreements with former manager Domenico Tedesco.
His frustration stemmed from being overlooked for the captaincy, which led to a breakdown in his relationship with the coaching staff.
However, with Tedesco now dismissed, there are no remaining obstacles preventing Courtois from making his comeback.
“I missed the national team, but now I’m ready to go back,” said the keeper during his podcast with Rio Ferdinand.

Courtois, who is now 32, has already spoken with Belgium’s new head coach, Rudi Garcia. The manager is keen to reintegrate him into the squad and sees his return as a significant boost for the team’s ambitions.
Last month, Garcia confirmed that discussions had taken place with the national team’s sporting director, Vincent Manaert, regarding Courtois.
Despite Belgium having several capable goalkeepers, the consensus is that having one of the world’s best goalkeepers back in the squad would be a major advantage.
The last time Courtois featured for Belgium was in June 2023. His absence had left a notable void in the team, especially considering his vast experience and leadership qualities.
Now, with Belgium preparing for a crucial two-legged Nations League tie against Ukraine, his presence could prove decisive.
Given the circumstances, all signs suggest that Courtois will return to the national team in March.
His comeback is expected to be an emotional one, marking the end of a self-imposed exile and reinforcing Belgium’s squad with his world-class goalkeeping ability.
