Report: Bayern slash price as Arsenal consider winger move

According to BILD, Bayern Munich are ready to offload Kingsley Coman as they look to cut costs, with the French winger now available for a reduced fee of €35-45 million. The Bavarian giants had previously valued him at around €70 million in April 2024, but financial constraints and squad restructuring have seen his price drop significantly.
With Coman still regarded as a high-calibre talent, interest in his services is expected. Arsenal have emerged as a potential suitor, with Mikel Arteta reportedly keen on strengthening his attacking options. A move to Saudi Arabia also remains an option, given the region’s growing financial muscle in European transfers.

Bayern Munich are in a period of financial adjustment, looking to trim their wage bill by around 10%. While Jamal Musiala is set for an upgraded contract, Coman’s injury record has made him dispensable. Since joining permanently from Juventus in 2017, the winger has missed significant spells due to recurring fitness concerns.

“Bayern are determined to sell him in order to generate funds – and are therefore open to negotiations on the price,” reports BILD. Given that his contract runs until 2027, the German club will hope to secure a deal sooner rather than later.
Coman’s explosive pace and ability to beat defenders make him a valuable asset, but his fitness concerns pose a risk. Arsenal’s pursuit of a winger suggests Arteta is looking for depth beyond Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Could Coman be the missing piece?

However, the financial aspect is crucial. While Bayern would see a profit on their initial €21 million investment, Arsenal will have to assess whether spending around €40 million on a player with a chequered injury history is a wise move.
With the transfer window heating up, Coman’s future remains uncertain. What’s clear is that Bayern are ready to part ways, and at this price, plenty of clubs will take notice.
Coman is a Champions League winner, a proven big-game player who could add genuine quality to the Arsenal squad. At his best, he is an electric winger with the ability to change games in an instant.
However, the elephant in the room is his injury record. Arsenal have suffered with player availability issues in key moments—adding another injury-prone star could be a gamble rather than a guarantee. Mikel Arteta has built his squad around young, durable players, and while Coman’s experience is valuable, would he be a luxury signing rather than a necessity?
From a financial standpoint, the deal could be reasonable if structured correctly. A loan with an obligation to buy, or a performance-based deal, could mitigate the risk. If Arsenal secure Champions League football, adding quality in depth will be essential.
Ultimately, Coman is a high-risk, high-reward target. If Arsenal believe they can manage his fitness properly, this could be a shrewd signing. But if his injury woes continue, it could prove to be an expensive mistake.
