Reports are all over the internet this morning that Chelsea have a big name in their sights.
Sites like CaughtOffside have picked up the story that the Blues have “made an offer” to sign Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland. The 19 year old has been playing for a few years in the Championship and has made a name for himself totally separate to that of his world famous older brother Jude.
With the Black Cats finally pushing for promotion to the Premier League after a long spell in the lower league wilderness, they won’t want to give up a key piece whether they make it this year or not. Bellingham is also tied down in the North East until 2028, putting a major roadblock in any push to sign him.
Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Manchester United have also apparently registered interest in the box to box machine. He’s got 4 goals and 3 assists this season, with 3 man of the match displays in 32 games. He’s an absolute machine too – he’s played more minutes since the start of February than Romeo Lavia has managed in his Chelsea career so far, helping his team force their way into the top 4 ready to challenge in the playoffs.

Interest in Bellingham would certainly square with the Blues interest, reported this morning in an exclusive from CaughtOffside, in Kobbie Mainoo. The Manchester United midfielder is also 19, also highly rated, also fancies a move abroad and is likely in a similar price bracket.
We wouldn’t expect both to come, but there’s clearly big interest in securing a young English potential superstar from this sporting structure as they look to add depth and quality to a midfield which has been relying on Moises Caicedo’s hamstrings all season.
