Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski looks set to remain at the club into next season, despite age-related uncertainty over the Pole's suitability for Hansi Flick's side.

Lewandowski has scored 34 times across all competitions so far in 2024/25. It is already his best season tally in a Barcelona shirt and could also be his first 40-goal campaign since leaving Bayern Munich three years ago.

The veteran frontman has a contract in Catalonia until at least the summer of 2026 and will turn 37 in August. Despite his continued goal output, speculation has emerged and persisted over whether this could end up being his last season with Barca.

But agent Pini Zahavi has quashed the idea that Lewandowski could leave in the coming months. "Robert will stay at Barca next season, it's 100% sure. He's happy at the club. He has a contract there and he will respect it until the end," the representative told 365 Scores.

If and when Lewandowski does leave Barcelona, the Saudi Pro League, who have recruited ageing La Liga stars such as Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, would be an obvious next step if the two-time European Golden Shoe winner isn't ready to retire. But Zahavi insists the player has "not received" an offer from the wealthy league.

But even with Lewandowski sticking around in the short-term, it would be remiss of Barcelona not to already be considering the next chapter. Alexander Isak has been heavily linked, with names of Viktor Gyokeres and Erling Haaland also rumoured. But all three would be monumentally expensive.

Benjamin Sesko is another 'number nine' who could be recruited for a more affordable amount due to a release clause that is active in his RB Leipzig contract. This summer, Lille's Jonathan David is set to be available as a free agent, too.
