Manchester United have rebuffed a late approach from Como for young forward Gabriele Biancheri, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Presumably, the Serie A outfit were looking to sign Biancheri on a permanent transfer, as he is currently injured but nearing his return to action.

Biancheri has spent almost two full years in the Red Devils academy after moving from Cardiff City in February 2023. The then-16-year-old had become the subject of interest for several top clubs before eventually committing his future to United.

Since then, he has played a prominent role in the youth system, quickly establishing himself as a prolific goalscorer and real up-and-coming prospect – one whom Ruben Amorim will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on, given the form he’s displayed in red.

The Welsh international, hailed as ‘unstoppable’ by supporters, is still awaiting his call-up to the first-team, although he has trained with the senior squad at Carrington on at least one occasion.

It’s been a quiet window for United on the incomings front, that’s for sure. They welcomed full-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce last week as well as clinching highly-rated Arsenal youngster Ayden Heaven on a permanent deal, with both defenders being unveiled to the Old Trafford faithful before kick-off on Sunday.

Heaven, 18, may be called into action sooner than he imagined, too, as his senior counterpart Lisandro Martinez was forced off yesterday with what looked like a pretty substantial knee injury. It leaves Ruben Amorim relying on Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Victor Lindelof until Jonny Evans returns from injury – though the path is definitely open for a young gun to break through and stake a claim for a spot in the squad, as has been the case with Toby Collyer this season.
